When you mention a startup/shutdown controller most people think of either the M1/2-ATX. Our SSC is similar, but better. Why you might ask? Quite simply put, price and performance. Unlike the M1/2-ATX our SSC is not a combination power supply and controller. This gives our product several advantages. To start with, your case probably came with a 80W power supply when you bought it. Why would you uninstall it and buy a new one when the one you have works? Until now the answer was you had to. If your case did not come with a power supply, we sell miniature 200 watt units for $45.
Why would you settle for the 160 watts of an M2-ATX? You can run four touch screens with the extra 40 watts. The second major advantage of separating the two units is flexibility. With an all in one solution, if one part fails, and they do, you are forced to buy a new $80-$90 unit. With our system, you can replace just the bad component for half the price. Our SSC can also be installed on virtually any PC with little to no modifications required. The perfect example is the In-Dash PC by Lilliput, which doesn't offer voltage protection on cranking. So, every time you start your car and the PC is running, it restarts. Because of its size and configuration it is almost impossible to use a M1-ATX to fix this. With our SSC, all you have to do is put it into a Project Enclosure box, wire it directly to the leads of the PC power harness, tuck it under your dash and the problem is solved. No other power controller offers you this much flexibility.
The SSC is packed with familiar features including:
- Automatic battery protection: The SSC will keep your PC running for an adjustable amount of time, after you have turned the car off. If at any point during that time your battery drops to a level just above critical starting voltage, it will automatically shut the PC down so your car will always start.
- 30 second amp delay: To prevent popping sound from the amps while the PC boots up.
- Automatic voltage regulation and protection: The SSC makes sure your PC always gets a constant 12v of power. This protects the PC from voltage drops (when you start the car), any voltage spikes, and from the voltage fluctuations that naturally occur in your vehicles charging system.
- Adjustable startup and shutdown delay times: You can easily adjust the start up delay and the shut down delay can be set from one minute to 15 minutes, or you can override it altogether, so that your PC will just shutdown if the battery voltage drops too low, so your car will always start.
- On board 20 amp fuse: For total PC protection the SSC has a built in miniture 20 amp fuse. In the event that something does short out, the fuse will blow before any damage can be done to the PC.
The SSC is proudly made in the USA by American workers using high quality components, pretested, and backed by a six month warranty. Every SSC comes with simple installation instructions. They measure 1.5" wide by 1.9" long by 0.7" high, and have four mounting holes to attach to any extra standoff inside your case. The bottom of the controller is insulated to prevent it from shorting on anything inside of the case. They will also fit inside of a Project Enclosure box that has the internal dimensions of 1.5" x 2.0" x 1". We do not recommend a smaller box, as you want to leave some room for the wires.
